Interactive Business Creation Through Gamification
A fun and practical approach to teaching entrepreneurship through gamification, turning theory into hands-on, real-world challenges.
Audience
Middle and high school students (ages 12-17) participating in entrepreneurship programs, looking to develop business skills through an engaging and interactive format.
Role
Lead Instructional Designer and Developer
The Problem
Traditional methods of teaching entrepreneurship failed to engage students, as they found the content too theoretical and found it difficult to connect with real-world applications. The challenge was to make entrepreneurship education fun, interactive, and practical.
Solution
Developed a gamified eLearning course that turned business creation into an interactive board game experience. Students progressed through different stages of building a business by completing tasks, answering quizzes, and solving real-world business scenarios. The course utilized interactive elements like badges, leaderboards, and levels to motivate students.

My Process
- Research and Strategy: I researched gamification techniques to align key entrepreneurship concepts with game mechanics, ensuring students would progress through interactive tasks.
- Game Design in Genially: Using Genially, I developed a virtual board game in which each section represented a stage of business creation. Tasks like business planning and pitching were built as interactive, scenario-based challenges.
- Visual and Interactive Design: I designed custom visuals in Adobe Illustrator and integrated them into Genially. The game included interactive features like leaderboards and badges to motivate students and track progress.
- Testing and Iteration: I beta-tested the game with students, using their feedback to refine task clarity and difficulty. Adjustments improved user engagement and learning flow.
- Launch in Google Classroom: The game was launched through Google Classroom, allowing students to engage with the interactive board while tracking their progress and achievements within the LMS.
